While most mamas of 6 year old girls plan princesses or fairies this mama had to worry about cars and soap.
This is my attempt to indulge her...
We went with a 50's vibe. A Drive-In perhaps. A nod to our party's inspirational song. (Which actually came out in the 70s, but who cares?)
Bubblegum Oldies were playing in the background...Doo Wop!
Treats were kept simple with a Soda Float station and cupcakes.
Bubbles of course!
The cake was already melting! All I used were gumballs and Sixlets. Super easy and I was very pleased with the outcome.
What 50's car would be complete without a set of fuzzy dice? These were purely props.
Naturally we had to wash cars at the "Car Wash Party"!
My kids are not unfamiliar with the idea of their mom plastering their name all over the vehicle on their birthday. A tradition I love.
Each guest received their own car wash kit to use and then take home. A bucket, washcloth, bottle of bubbles and a cupcake car air freshener should be enough to make anyone want to wash their car!
The backyard was turned into a "human car wash" as the kids called it.
Complete with a shampoo station.
Wash cycle.
And rinse.
Our new picnic table was ready to feed some kids.
Let the party begin...
Every car wash needs a set of cute kids trying to entice the drive-bys!
Ada loved watching for her friends to arrive.
Only $5!
Anyone?
First things first! Wash those cars!
Ada's Car Wash song was playing in the background.
Guests were told they could park in the lot or could park in the "bay" for their car wash.
Ada made sure to get up high!
Uh oh...I smell trouble....
This is one dad who knows what the kids really want!
Who is more excited?
Apparently Ada really did want to wash cars. Silly Dad.
Once the cars were clean it was time to move to the back...
Most of our friends are used to our bubbly tarp set up.
This time it was just the beginning of the fun.
A tarp and some tear-free shampoo can entertain kids for hours!
Chillin' in the rinse cycle.
Ada's dad did a fantastic job creating our "car wash"!
Just for proof that I was there!
Just hangin'!
And my favorite way to end a party...pull pinatas!
Ready, set, GO!
Blue confetti was used for their final "shower".
I think everyone had a good time "Workin' at the Car Wash".
But in the end it's all for this....
